Red Wagon Fund
Back in 2011, we learned from the Care Coordination department at the Shriner Hospital for Children – Houston of a special need they had for their littler patients. Transporting the patients to and from surgery and treatments was especially difficult for some cases. Standard wheel chairs were often to big and completely inappropriate for those in body casts from hip surgery.
As it worked out, a standard child’s red wagon was perfect. Their only requirement was that they be plastic and not painted metal which potentially could flake. HMLMF was happy to help and we have been supplying them with Pathfinder” Radio Flyers ever since.
As an added bonus, the children are free to take their wagons home with them afterwards –
so that someday they can pull them behind them just like all the other kids!
